Hello Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

We welcome Clint Dixon into our team of Lay Preachers; he has just completed the Diocesan training for this calling. We can’t wait to listen to your thoughts! Many thanks to Dan Aramini on Sunday. Each of our lay preachers brings their unique perspective to the pulpit and we are grateful for those who add this richness to our St. James’ community.

And on the topic of richness, St. James was glowing this past Saturday for the Reverend Barbara West’s Memorial. Bishop Laura walked in early amidst the awful weather and was beaming, saying she was so happy to be back at St. James’. Our small Saturday crew hosted a second Bishop, the Right, Reverend Andrew Smith and five other clergy, the family, and some St. James’ parishioners to whom the Rev. West brought back special memories. Many thanks to Barbara Edwards for reading, to Connie Bruce of the Altar Guild and Pat Goodrich, Jeannette Brown, Barbara Buddington, and Janet Donston, who managed the reception for at least forty, to Sharon Phipps for serving as the Minister of Communion and balancing/managing the roles on the Altar between the Bishop, two priests and herself in the service, and to our parish administrator, Dawn Hardwick, who put together the unique service bulletin and pulled together many details responsive to the family on such short notice. The St. James’ crew received high praise from many on Saturday.

Rest up this week and mark your calendars brothers and sisters because next week is a busy one. The Finance Committee meets on Tuesday, March 14 at 7:00, the Men’s Group gathers on Thursday, March 16 at 5:30, the choir sings the fifteen minute, contemplative service of Compline at 7:30 (women are welcome, too), the Red Cross Blood Drive is on Friday, March 17, Carol’s Closet is open on Saturday, March 18, and Celtic Vespers is at 7:00 on Sunday, March 19 with our choir and Wild Notes in the Sanctuary and a reception to follow.

Blessings,
