Lunch in the Park Report
Lunch in the Park is a ministry that provides bagged lunches following Church by the Pond, a weekly outdoor service near the Bushnell Park carousel in Hartford coordinated by Christ Church Cathedral. The celebrants are Episcopal and Lutheran clergy from Greater Hartford. About 20-60 people, many of them homeless and living in shelters, attend the service and/or gather just for lunch. St. James' is one of many local ecumenical organizations that provide lunch following the service. In May and October St. James" volunteers prepared 45-50 bag lunches containing two sandwiches with condiment packets, chips, cookies, fruit and a napkin plus bottled water and in October actually distributed the lunches to the attendees for the first time since the start of Covid.
In 2023, St. James' is scheduled to prepare and distribute the lunches on April 29th and September 30th.
